LATA MANGESHKAR AWARD PRESENTATION AT DELHI 2006

Delhi’s CM Smt. Sheila Dixit who once said she feels she is perhaps Maharashtrian because Madhuri Dixit is also Maharashtrian made above remarks at the gala ceremony of Gyan Samradnyi Lata Mangeshkar Award presentation held at Siri Fort auditorium on 28^th Oct. 2006.

 

Sh.Snehal Bhatkar was given standing ovation as Chief Guest Manarashtra CM Sh.Vilasrao Deshmukh presented award to him. Sh.Bhatkar had a fall injury same morning and had to be wheeled on stretcher. The octogenarian showed fierce determination to overcome injury and bowed to request of his fans, family and well-wishers. He was presented award for year 2004. Sh.Manna Dey was presented award for 2005 by Sh.Deshmukh. Sh. Deshmukh who accorded Chief Guest Emeritus to Smt.Dixit conferred award on Smt Jaimala Shiledar for 2006.

 

The cultural part was split into three sessions each dedicated to recipient. Their own GenNext compered each session on legendaries of yester years, which was unique feature of the evening.

 

The first session on Smt.Jaimala Shiledar began with nandi, Panch Tund Maha Rund… invoking the deity. While her daughter sang the songs, her second daughter Dipti did the compering unfolding various facets of Jaimala’s life. The melodies included Khara Too Prema… Murti Munte Bhiti Ubhee..(it is said late Sh.C.Ramchandra was inspired by this song for his tune of Ye Zindagi Usiki Hai…in Anaarkali) , Naari Gae, Naari Gae… and many more. Jaimala herself rendered Aarey Vedya Mana Talmalsi. The session rounded off with Kirti rendering Johar Maye Baap Johar…

 

The second session on Sh.Snehal Bhatkar began with nandi Utah Maha Ganpati. Snehal Bhatkar a feminish name was the music director of first ever Hindi song recorded by Geeta Roy (Dutt).  He was the first to introduce Pahari tune in Hindi films. The song was Room Zhoom Matware Badal…. Lata Mangeshkar recorded her first ever Hindi song for Humari Beti under his music direction. He made Nutan sing pop style Aey Babu, Dil Pe Rakhna Kabu that was picturised on Tanuja in Chabili. He is also first Indian to compose Indian Opera on Shakuntal. Evergreens like Hale dil Unko Sunana Tha and Kabhi Tanhaee May Bhi Humari Yaad Aayegi were also rendered on the occasion. B.Vasudev, who is none other than Snehal Bhatkar, has composed music to all these popular numbers? !  Pseudonym Snehal, he picked up from the name of his daughter’s name Snehalata. One of his superlative numbers Mee Punha Vanat Phiren Harini… to was rendered on the occasion. His son and renowned Marathi actor who was compering the session could not hold back his emotions towards the end, concluded with choked throat and tears rolling down.

 

The second session was followed by award presentation ceremony. The award comprises of momento, shawl, citation and cash of Rs One Lacs. On the dais were distinguished dignitaries Delhi Cm Smt. Sheila Dixit, Maharashtra CM Sh, Vilasrao Deshmukh, Union Minister Sh. Shinde, Sh.Gavit, Sh.Muttamwar, Ministers from Maharashtra Govt. Sh Chavan and Sh. Handoore and Sh.Bhushan Gagrani, secretary Cultural (Govt, of Maharashtra). The august house also saw presence of Sh.Suresh Wadkar, Sh. Ajay Pohankar, Justice Bhandare, Justice Neolekar amongst others. Sh Gagrani delivered the vote of thanks.

 

The last session on Sh Manna Dey was compered by his family friend Sh. Kishan Sharma, Not many of us know that Manna Da’s real name is Probhodhan Chandra Roy. The session began with devotional song from Seema. Tu Pyaar Ka Sagar Hai followed by Bhaey Bhanjana Vandana Suni Humari… which then moved to fast pitched ones like Dharti Kahey Pukar Ke, Aaja Sanam Madhur Chandani May Hum…..Pyaar Hua Ekrar Hua…… and patriotic like Aey Mere Pyaare Watan et al

 

Smt.Dixit in her address gave a friendly order to Sh.Deshmukh to host this award presentation in Delhi every year. Sh.Chavan in his address has assured to reignite the spirit of cultural festivity in Delhi by organizing Marathi films, drama and other events.

 

 Sh.Ashok Hande compered the over all programme and his Chaurang Cultural Troupe presented the cultural programmee.
