DEVRAI AND ISSAC NEWTON

Today we call ourselves to be globe trotters as it is jet age and era of space tourism. But could these flights have been possible without the invention of airplane by Wright brothers, which could never have been possible had there been no laws of motions and discovery of gravitational force in earth. This force was not created by anyone but already existed, but it was Isaac Newton who felt why apple did from tree fell on his head and did not go up in the atmosphere. He presumed that there was something in the earth because of which it came down. To the world then, the reality was there was nothing but to Isaac Newton there was something. Now was he fooling himself by being unable to distinguish between reality and unreality or was it the case of mass schizophrenia where the whole world was unable to distinguish between the two.

In the movie DEVRAI, Shesh- the central character- presumes there is something in the sacred groove- Devrai, which was attracting him and believed there was link of Devrai with Parvati and everyone. Now is this presumption not similar to that of Newton. For Newton there was something in the earth, for Shesh there was something in Devrai. Newton in real life gave theory of Universal law of Gravitational Attraction. And the laws of motion. Shesh was a reel life character propounding existence of linkage amongst each one. Linkage cannot come until and unless there is force of attraction and affinity between two bodies. Newton became world famous scientist, Shesh became schizophrenic. He too could have become reputed Environmentalist or Botanist…

Shesh fails in college. William Killby the father of microchip technology- upon which are based mammoth calculations- was weak in mathematics and had failed in college. The there person who failed in pilot aptitude test- crucial for air force pilot- went on to become father of missile technology programme in India, which is part of armed forces. Then became the supreme commander of Indian armed forces and eventually did co-pilot one day. They could do all this because they didn’t do anything different but thought differently, away from the league. Now were they unable to distinguish between reality and unreality….?

When Dr. Francine Patterson propounded the view of animal communicating back to human in a human language, how and where she differed from Sant Dnyaneshwar. Sant Dnyaneshwar was called philosopher. Dr Patterson conducted world’s longest research in animal communication and reciprocal communication takes between her and animal gorilla. She could do it because she had conviction in herself about the existence of linkage between human and non-human. What else was Shesh trying to prove? To contemporary world of Dr.Patterson was she not having illusion and hallucinations of something which never existed for them? Was she unable to distinguish between reality and unreality?

This problem actually stems from existing education system. Our prescribed syllabus talks of asexual reproduction, Nutrition deficiency disorders like PCM,Marasmus, Rickets etc. which has no significance to a child at that age, but is not even exposed to words like attention deficiency, confidence, phobias, dyslexia with which he or she may be battling day and night. This is in spite of the fact that W.H.O defines health as a state of complete physical, social and mental well being and not merely disease or deformity. But in the entire school level syllabus in India we find no mention about maladies of social or mental nature being taught as part of our academics. Is that not an inability on part of our education policy makers to distinguish between reality and un reality

If the abstract thinking of people like Shesh are assimilated at one point, perhaps not only India but world will have many Newton.

In that case will Schizophrenia be a bane or boon to society......
